Current Issues

The graphic card (Radeon XPress 200M) didn't work "out of the box"; 3D acceleration still doesn't work.

The wireless card (AirForce One 54g, chipset bcm4318) doesn't work: it is recognized but scan doesn't work.

<strike>The "Hibernate" function doesn't work</strike> (untested, I realized I got a message saying I have not enough swap), the "Sleep" button disappeared (in ugrade from flight 5 to flight 7) *****.

Notes

* Can't tell whose fault it is, but when listening and in the meanwhile recording, frequency of recorded sounds is approximatly a half of real. I noticed it on Audacity, recording while listening to recorded tracks. It happens every time. Seems like data input rate is a half of what the driver expects.

** the modem monitor asks me for the modem port; I try the automatic recognizing, it doesn't work

*** Onestly I don't find a difference when I do it under Window, except an icon appearing on taskbar; I say "no" just because nothing appears in dmesg

**** I will verify this information

***** Actually, "sleep" button is not present, but sleep works fine with command "echo 3 > /proc/acpi/sleep". When awaked, screen is black, but if I press "Ctrl+Alt+F1" I can see the console with orange background and white text instead of black and white. If I then press "Ctrl+Alt+F7", I see again X, and then all is OK, except: - plugged in USB mass storage devices are reopened by Nautilus, as if they were plugged in at the moment - sometimes I don't see the usual XScreenSaver window to put the password in, but instead the "log out" window (the one with the buttons to shutdown, restart etc...), and no password is requested. Notice that "echo 3 > /proc/acpi/sleep" works much faster than the sleep button in the flight 5 did, and it works even if boot parameters "noapic nolapic" are not given. Never tested "echo 3 > /proc/acpi/sleep" with flight 5. Update: to activate 3d acceleration, I tried to put, in xorg.conf, driver "fglrx" instead of "radeon". X starts, all is fine, glxinfo still says "couldn't find RGB GLX visual", and sleep doesn't no more wake up (screen remains black). Notice even that I also modified file /etc/default/acpi-support, decommenting sleep line, but sleep button didn't reappear.

****** After last upgrade, sound stopped working Mplayer gave me this message: "ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:819:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave" But Mplayer also said "try to set echo 1024 > /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq in your startup scripts". Well, I don't know much about startup scripts, but the command "echo 1024 > /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq" made sound work again.
