Current Issues

On Gutsy: sleep doesn't work with proprietary drivers (regression from edgy) On Gutsy: Sony Duo cards aren't read by card reader (known driver limitation).

On Hardy: regressions on mouse behaviour.

Wireless still doesn't work without acer_acpi (and I still don't understand why it isn't included).

Notes

* With free driver, glxinfo says "direct rendering: YES" and glxgears works, but no other program using 3d acceleration seems to work fine. e.g. planetpenguin is fluent but it gives a lot of strange shapes drawn very fast out of place, compiz doesn't even start. With closed drivers, 3d acceleration is OK (but not sleep).

** Onestly I can't find a difference even when I do it under Window, except an icon appearing on taskbar; I say "no" just because nothing appears in dmesg

*** xrandr says "screen cannot be larger than 1280x1200". Under Gutsy, I had to change xorg.conf. Under Hardy (live) I just couldn't find it in /etc/X11!
