In order to better support laptops, we need to have a stronger idea about what hardware is supported. In order to achieve this, we will be purchasing a wide range of laptops from a limited selection of manufacturers. It's not practical for us to test all of these ourselves, and so we'll be sending some machines to community members. | ## page was renamed from LaptopTestingTeam/Requests In mid-2005 Canonical purchased a wide range of laptops from a limited selection of manufacturers, and sent these to active community members who were willing to provide an installation report for every milestone and release candidate of Breezy and Breezy+1. The machines will not come without strings attached - people will be expected to install Ubuntu and provide an installation report for every milestone and release candidate of Breezy and Breezy+1. When problems are found, you'll be expected to provide debugging information and test potential solutions. After Breezy+1, it's expected that you'll be allowed to keep the laptops. We're looking for people who are active in the community, so please include a link to a wiki page that describes what you do within Ubuntu. Being active on the mailing list or forums, producing artwork, helping out on documentation and so on are the sort of thing that we'll be looking for. So, please add yourself to the table below, and in the near future we'll be getting in touch with people to arrange getting hardware to them. ||Name||Country|| ||MartinWillemoesHansen||DK|| ||MatthewGarrett||UK|| ||MartijnVanDeStreek||NL|| ||DanielHolbach||DE|| ||OliverGrawert||DE|| ||AnkurKotwal||AU|| ||AdamConrad||AU|| ||MichaelVogt||DE|| ||TimoAaltonen||FI|| ||PhilippWollermann||DE|| ||TrentLloyd||AU|| ||FabioMassimoDiNitto||DK|| ||EmilOppelnBronikowski||PL|| ||ChuckShort||CA|| ||DennisKaarsemaker||NL|| ||GheRivero||SP|| ||GuillermoGutierrezHerrera||ES|| ||Hameed||US|| ||ThomasSchneller||DE|| ||TravisNewman||US|| ||NiallSheridan||IE|| ||JeromeGotangco||PH|| ||MatthewEast||UK|| ||MatthewSmith||US|| ||DavidGiard||CA|| ||SimonSantoro||IT|| ||TollefFogHeen||NO|| ||AndreiEmeltchenko||FI|| ||DavidStevens||UK|| ||AndersKarlsson||UK|| ||ThomasHolbach||DE|| ||ClintonBennett||UK|| ||SamiHaahtinen||FI|| ||MartinSchmeisser||DE|| ||MartinAlderson||UK|| ||KregSchlosser||US|| ||HenrietteHolm||DK|| ||JeffVehrs||US|| ||ColinDean||US|| ||KarianneGrønningsæter||NO|| ||FouwadAchraf||FR|| ||ElimelechBerlin||US|| ||GregTaylor||US|| ||TamasSomlyai||HU|| ||ShidaiLiu||CN|| ||UphaarAgrawalla||IN|| ||StephanHermann||DE|| ||YvesJunqueira||BR|| ||DanielRobitaille||CA|| ||RoaldHopman||NL|| ||PaulSladen [*] ||GB|| ||SivanGreen [**] || IL || ||MauroVale||PT|| ||HervéCauwelier||FR|| ||ReinhardTartler||DE|| ||LaurIvan||IE|| [*] Could do with access to a ThinkPad >=R50/X40 to work on the hd/accelorometer. I've patched it's ACPI image to make the battery work. I'm thinking/working of an autodetect algorithm for linux wifi. I'd love to test it on a 64-bit platform along with the other features and make sure no 64-bit issues pop up. imho Acer has 64bit laptops are accessible. Alternatively, a sonoma platform would be as challenging :) |
