Updated attempt using PPA:

I've uploaded clamav-0.92-2 for Dapper/Edgy/Feisty/Gutsy to the [https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-clamav/+archive ubuntu-clamav PPA].

Clamav-0.92 is now built for all releases and uploaded test packages. Please test and report here. The only outstanding package is avscan. I've yet to find one that will build on Dapper and with the new Clamav.

ScottKitterman - clamsmtp with Postfix (nevermind, Leonel got to it first), klamav, and I will test clamtk, but don't regularly use it, same with avscan. ["Asommer"] - I use it with clamav-milter and sendmail to scan messages on an internal mail server.

["Leonel"] - I Work with clamav and clamsmtp. Tested clamav 0.90.3 ( from [http://www.kitterman.com/clamav ] with clamsmtp all worked fine.

["LucaLesinigo"] - due to personal issues I'll be able to start testing only after July, 20th. I will be happy to test on x86 and x86_64 dapper drakes, and x86 only for other releases. Never built debs from source, it'll great if someone puts online a 64bit version of the draft package, otherwise I'll try the source package.

["Voiceovgod"] - I'm able to test on Dapper i386. Never built from source either. Not sure what is needed to be done. Eager to learn and contribute.

Steps for Clamav Backport

• Step one is for ScottKitterman to get a draft package for a clamav 0.92 backport to Dapper out for people to use. The draft source package can be found in the [https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-clamav/+archive ubuntu-clamav PPA].

• Step two is to prepare backports of the packages that don't work. Done for Dapper except avscan. Edgy/Feisty/Gutsy done (have some PPA problems for getting sylpheed-claws-gtk2 uploaded for Edgy/Feisty).
• Step three is testing the backports from the PPA. Indicate test results below.
• Step four is massive backport of all of the needed updates at the same time so nothing (promise) breaks.
• Step five: Move to another release, rinse, repeat.

The following packages use libclamav and need to be tested. With the exception of Klamav (which is known to use internal Clamav interfaces), no package that worked with libclamav2 (clamav-0.90) has had any problems with libclamav3 (clamav-0.92) - Rebuilding should be sufficient:
