This tries to give an overview of games, which are not in ubuntu yet. Perhaps you can help the [:MOTUGames] Team to bring them into universe?

How to adopt a game

If you find a game in the list below you want to have in universe, you could try to get it packaged. Please first look around in the web, if someone already did it. In that case, please add a link to this wiki page. If you created a source package for the game, please add it on [:MOTUNewPackages] and contact a Member of the [:MOTUGames]Team.

Please note that not every game is distributable. We can only include games to ubuntu, which are freely redistributable. This restriction excludes commercial games like Doom, Quake, and similar.

• Secret Maryo Chronicles [http://smclone.arturh.com/]

  • I([JonDodson]) have built this for hoary, no issues. Game released under the LGPL, GPL and Creative Commons license(s). The game art is all original, albiet VERY similar to Super Mario World(however, slightly different).

• Bub & Bob Brothers [http://bub-n-bros.sourceforge.net/]

  • This Bubble Bobble clone is great! Relies on Python, tested and works in hoary([JonDodson]). Mit License.

• Nexuiz [http://www.nexuiz.com/]

  • GPL Quake source engine with free textures. I have tested this game on Ubuntu Hoary and it works great. Sources are included in the main zip file. Someone should add this game to the Debian archives for inclusion into Ubuntus next release. This game is a amazing GPL/Free game!

  • Packaging in progress by MattGalvin, working out some bugs with upstream

• Dark Oberon [http://dark-oberon.sourceforge.net/]

  • Compiled this game(JonDodson). Graphics are really well done. They use a make script and some OpenGL libraries that are not that standard. However, the game is very well done.

• Vulture's Eye [http://www.darkarts.co.za/projects/vultures/] - The successor of falcon's eye.

• Quake III / Open Arena [http://www.planetgargoyle.com/openarena/]

  • redevelopment of the commercial Warzone2100 game, so everything is pretty complete and balanced
