My involvement in Ubuntu and the OSS community includes the authoring of the UbuntuOnSunRay and CorporateUbuntu wikis, reporting new bugs on [https://launchpad.net/people/naamanc/+reportedbugs Malone] & [http://bugzilla.gnome.org/describeuser.cgi?login=naamanc%40gmail.com GNOME Bugzilla], pro-Ubuntu advocacy & support of Ubuntu users on the [http://www.filibeto.org/sun/sunray-users/index.html sunray-users Mailing List], blogging about my projects at the [http://greenmidgetcafe.blogspot.com Green Midget Cafe] and I am a member of [http://www.humbug.org.au HUMBUG] - Home Unix Machine Brisbane Users Group.

I also work in the IT department for a large Australian processing company based in Brisbane.

Current Major Projects:

  • Migration from Solaris 8 CDE-based desktop environment to Ubuntu 5.10 Breezy Badger GNOME-based desktop environment

    • utilising current SunRay thin-client architecture

    • moving from SPARC to x86

    • SunRays outnumber Win/PC workstations by ~ 90%/10% (and slowly increasing)

  • Establishment of J2EE (Tomcat)/MySQL-backed customised payroll system
  • Testing of Linux-based touchscreen production terminals
