I work in the IT department for a large Australian processing company based in Brisbane.

Current Major Projects:

• Migration from Solaris 8 CDE-based desktop environment to Ubuntu 5.10 Breezy Badger GNOME-based desktop environment

  • utilising current SunRay thin-client architecture

  • moving from SPARC to x86

  • SunRays outnumber Win/PC workstations by ~ 90%/10% (and slowly increasing)

• Establishment of J2EE (Tomcat)/MySQL-backed customised payroll system
• Testing of Linux-based touchscreen production terminals
