OpenVZ

OpenVZ is a virutalization technology based on 'containers'. With it you can create multiple isolated virtual private servers on a single system. For more information see [http://wiki.openvz.org/Main_Page OpenVZ.org] and OpenVZ.

OpenVZ on Ubuntu

Gutsy

There is no official Ubuntu kernel support for OpenVZ.

The administrative packages 'vzctl' and 'vzquota' exist in the Universe repository. The OpenVZ team has made [http://download.openvz.org/template/precreated/ubuntu-7.10-i386-minimal.tar.gz 7.10 VE templates] available for download. In addition it is possible to use Gutsy as a host system by patching the existing kernel and building it manually. A HOWTO that includes a link to a pre-built, third-party kernel is [http://wiki.openvz.org/Installation_on_ubuntu_gutsy_server available].

Hardy

The OpenVZ team has submitted patches to the Ubuntu kernel developers.
