The Kubuntu team have been working hard to ship 26.04 with the latest Qt6 based Plasma 6 KDE desktop.

The Plasma X11 session is not installed by default on a clean install, and is not supported by the Kubuntu team. However, the plasma-session-x11 package exists in the Ubuntu archive and can be installed for those who wish to run an unsupported session.

=== Qt and KDE Frameworks ===

Kubuntu 26.04 Beta ships with Qt6.10.2 and KDE Frameworks version 6.24.0.

For applications that are still based on Qt5/KF5, Qt5 5.15.18 and Frameworks 5.116.0 are still in the archive.

All KDE gear currently packaged by Ubuntu or Debian are now at the latest stable version 25.12.3.
