and contains step-by-step instructions on howto setup a virtual machine running Ubuntu Linux 16.04 on top of KVM for IBM z Systems.

For an initial installation, several installation files are required, like the Ubuntu Server 16.04 s390x ISO image, the kernel file and the initial ramdisk (initrd).
Login to your existing KVM for IBM z Systems host and change to the folder: /var/lib/libvirt/images

The files can directly downloaded with the help of wget, like:
Linux install kernel:
wget http://mirror/ubuntu/boot/kernel.ubuntu
Inital ramdisk for installation:
wget http://mirror/ubuntu/boot/initrd.ubuntu
The files are usually in the ubuntu/boot/ directory of the installation server or mirror

The image itself is available from here:
wget http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/16.04/release/ubuntu-16.04-server-s390x.iso
