Goals Developed at Planning Meeting on May 9
Develop an overall presentation model with handouts and other materials as appropriate
Develop a list of ed apps and sample lessons/tutorials (volunteer below by May 14)
Develop a wiki (on appropriate host such as Ubuntu) to collect and organize content and as a point of access for conference attendees and anyone else
Develop a list of community members willing to assist school and district personal in their area with Ubuntu or ed related FOSS (ie. mentors or adopt-a-school model)
Assess hardware needs during TIE session (ie. thin-client server with apps)
Assess hardware needs for booth or table throughout the entire conference
Next meeting will be held during the week of May 14. Date, time, location TBA
Community (CoLoCo) Opportunities to Help
In order to give FOSS and Ubuntu as much publicity at the TIE conference as possible, we are in need of volunteers. There are several ways in which you can participate.
I AM PLANNING TO ATTEND THE FOSS SESSION AND HELP
If you would like to lend a hand during the actual session on June 19, please add your name and contact info (launchpad page, email, etc) below including if you plan to stay for one or more days and whether or not you are interested in finding others to share the cost of lodging.
I CAN HELP DEVELOP LESSONS OR TUTORIALS OF SOFTWARE PACKAGES
Another way to help is to select an application that has education merit and develop a lesson and/or tutorial for participants to use during the session (stay tuned for an example).
Begin by selecting a content area and application (those listed are only suggestions - feel free to add others) and assign yourself to it. Once you have a lesson developed, add a link to the lesson. All lessons and tutorials will be collected later and developed into a coherent page.
To choose topics it can be helpful to review the Colorado State standards (learning objectives) for your subject areas. These are categorized by grade level at http://www.education-world.com/standards/state/co/index.shtml#fine
Pay close attention to the deadlines.
May 14: Assign yourself to an application(s)
May 28: Develop and publish your lesson(s) (your own wiki is fine for now)
June 4: All lessons tested and proofed (do not proof your own)
June 11: All lessons considered final and ready for the public
