Ubuntu Backporters Team Charter
1. Mission Statement
The mission of the Ubuntu Backporters Team is to maintain the backports pocket of all stable Ubuntu releases.
2. Delegation of Authority
The Ubuntu Backporters Team can accept or reject uploads to any Ubuntu release backport pocket.
3. Governance
The Technical Board (TB) governs the team, and can override any decision or vote and/or revert any action.
4. Policies and Rules
- The primary objective of all team members is to fulfill the Mission Statement. The team policies and rules exist only to allow the team make progress in fulfilling its mission.
The team shall follow all rules and policies stated at the Team Policies wiki page (policies).
The policies may be updated by team member(s) according to the current rules stated on that page.
The policies will list all authoritative sources of team documentation.
All documentation listed in the policies will be maintained by the team, and will clearly and accurately provide all information needed for the community to understand and follow the backports process.
Changes to this charter may be made only on agreement of a supermajority of team members. The specific process for reaching the agreement, as well as the specific definition of supermajority, will be stated in the policies, and currently is defined as a supermajority vote.
5. Chair
One team member shall be appointed as chair, with a majority vote within the current team members; the current chair has a casting vote.
The chair holds the role until a successful vote for a new chair.
The primary function of the chair is to facilitate the team to make progress on fulfilling the Mission Statement.
The chair shall be the team Administrator of the ubuntu-backporters team. All other members of the team shall be normal team members.
The chair is responsible for the administrivia of the team, including running team meetings. The chair may delegate to team member(s), including delegation of running a team meeting.
The specific duties of the chair, other than those stated here, will be stated on the Policies wiki page.
The chair may resolve any disagreement in whatever manner the chair decides is appropriate.
