Welcome to the Contribute to Ubuntu Studio Development page on wiki.ubuntu.com. The purpose of this document to help those who are not currently contributing to Ubuntu Studio development to do so. Below are items that require attention, find one that interests you and see if you can help.

Most of these items do not require development experience.

For further assistance or additional directions please email the Contact: listed for each item or visit #ubuntustudio-devel on Freenode IRC.

Testing

We always need testing done and this is most easy and accessible way for inexperienced (and experienced too) to contribute.

Every month we participate in a QA testing of the Alpha, Beta, Release Candidate, and Final release images. If we don't complete the required testing then we risk not having an image release! This is very important.

User Documentation

The purpose of User Documentation is to assist users use Ubuntu Studio. This may seem obvious, but it more subtle and layered than people realize. This may include a vast spectrum of information including defining Ubuntu Studio, routing audio, tuning JACK settings, using Ardour, MIDI, and synthensizers, setting up for mixing/mastering, and many other topics.

Documentation, however, always needs to be reviewed, moderated, deprecated, and updated. And since one of our current goals is to completely reorganize the user documentation then we need help ever more.

The current user documentation can be found here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuStudio

The latest updated outline for new user documentation can be found here, please ignore the "video" nomenclature: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuStudio/IntroTutVideos

Artwork and Themes

We need more artwork and themes, especially since our transition to XFCE.

TODO

Live DVD

Our goal for the 12.04 LTS release may include a Live DVD replacing the alternate installation. We need help with this.
