Plasma 5.27 LTS for Jammy 22.04 LTS available via PPA

The Kubuntu team reports having many requests to provide Plasma 5.27 to be made available in their backports PPA for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Formerly this would have broken upgrades from 22.04 to 22.10, but with that release now EOL, Plasma 5.27 has been made available via the backport-extra PPA. This post gives us warnings and details on using this updated KDE Plasma on our 22.04 systems.

Happy 19th Birthday, Ubuntu!

Joey Sneddon wishes Ubuntu a "Happy 19th Birthday", noting it was back on 20 October 2024 when Ubuntu 4.10 was released. We're reminded of some what was offered back then that made Ubuntu special, including a screenshot contrasting Ubuntu 4.10 with Ubuntu 23.10. Some changes over time are touched on too.

AMD Wants To Know If You'd Like Ryzen AI Support On Linux

Michael Larabel mentions AMD Ryzen 7040 series laptops with a 'Ryzen AI' that is currently only supported under Microsoft Windows. A link is provided to a GitHub ticket on Linux support, which was closed a few days later back in June 2023. That ticked has been re-opened by an AMD Staff member "allowing (Linux) customers to voice their interest".
