With much anticipation, the current uploads in the queue will be reviewed and either accepted or rejected as appropriate by pre-freeze standards. Acceptance pertains to two broad categories: release-critical bugs, and bug fixes that would be suitable for post-release SRUs.

Bionic Beaver (18.04 LTS) Final Freeze

Adam Conrad of the Ubuntu release team reports that the next version of Ubuntu, the Bionic Beaver, has entered the Final Freeze period in preparation for the final release next week. With much anticipation, the current uploads in the queue will be reviewed and either accepted or rejected as appropriate by pre-freeze standards. Acceptance pertains to two broad categories: release-critical bugs, and bug fixes that would be suitable for post-release SRUs.

First set of Bionic (sort-of) RC images

Adam Conrad of the Ubuntu release team advises that the first release candidate ISO images for Bionic Final are available. He asks for undelayed and thorough testing to ensure the release of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on Thursday next week.

MAAS 2.4.0 beta 2 released!

Andres Rodriguez announces that MAAS 2.4.0 beta 2 is now released and available in the official repositories of Ubuntu Bionic. He lists the new features and improvements - as well as mentions that overall 37 bugs have also been fixed.

Linus Torvalds Kicks Off Linux 4.17 Development, Teases the Linux 5.0 Release

Marius Nestor reports that the development of Linux 4.17 has started, and that it is available for public testing. While not including any major new features, this release removes support for several hardware architectures, and adds support for the NDS32 architecture. Options for downloading the release candidate are also provided.

You Can Now Create Your Own Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Live System with Pinguy Builder

Hanuca reports that a fork of Remastersys tool, which is no longer maintained, is now available. Pinguy Builder is a tool to build an operating system specific to Ubuntu by creating a Live ISO image. It can also be used to backup an Ubuntu system.
