Simon Quigley announces the formation of the Lubuntu Council to further aid the production of the Lubuntu operating system. Currently is the work to adopt the Lubuntu Constitution. Feedback is requested from the community with the window closing Monday, January 28th, 2019 at 20:00 UTC. After due considerations the constitution will be effective on Friday, February 1st, 2019 at midnight UTC. Simon provides links to the document and means for the community to participate.

KDE Frameworks 5.54.0 in the a monthly update adds numerous improvements as well as various new features. Also, this release is just in time for the upcoming KDE Plasma 5.15 desktop, which is due for release on February 12, 2019. Marius also provides brief details on "what's the new in KDE Frameworks 5.54". Canonical Patches GNOME Bluetooth Vulnerability on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, Update Now

Ubuntu's Icon Theme Now Extends to Branded & Third-Party Apps

Michael Larabel reports that the "atomic replace" / "cumulative patches" series was merged to livepatching making it staged material for the upcoming Linux 5.1 cycle. The "atomic replace" support to the kernel's common livepatch infrastructure allows for replacing/reverting an existing kernel live patch and for handling of multiple patches in a series as "cumulative patches." This code also improves the behavior around the patching order/stacking and allows recovering from the overhead of functions no longer being patched. This describes the inner-workings of "atomic replace" in much more detail.
