Introducing the Lubuntu Council

Simon Quigley announces the formation of the Lubuntu Council to further aid the production of the Lubuntu operating system. Currently is the work to adopt the Lubuntu Constitution. Feedback is requested from the community with the window closing Monday, January 28th, 2019 at 20:00 UTC. After due considerations the constitution will be effective on Friday, February 1st, 2019 at midnight UTC. Simon provides links to the document and means for the community to participate.

KDE Frameworks 5.54 Released for KDE Plasma 5.15, Adds Android Notifications

Marius Nestor reports on the KDE Frameworks 5.54.0 suite for current and upcoming releases of the KDE Plasma desktop environment. This release has 70+ addon libraries for the open-source and cross-platform Qt application framework.

KDE Frameworks 5.54.0, a monthly update that adds numerous improvements as well as various new features, Also, this release is just in time for the upcoming KDE Plasma 5.15 desktop, which is due for release on February 12 2019. Marius also provided the brief details on "what's the new in KDE Frameworks 5.54".

NVIDIA 415.27 Linux Driver Released With GeForce RTX 2060 Support

Michael Larabel reports that a Linux driver was released today to officially support the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. This NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 is actually works with former 415 driver series releases, but would just be identified as a NVIDIA "Device" as opposed to the GeForce RTX 2060. The product string is now in this driver plus any other small tweaks to officially support this lowest-cost RTX Turing graphics card to date. Michael Larabel said that over the past week I've posted GeForce RTX 2060 Linux benchmarks and complementary 1080p/1440p gaming results. At the top of the hour will also be some more RTX 2060 Linux performance results.

Ubuntu's Icon Theme Now Extends to Branded & Third-Party Apps

Joey Sneddon reports that the upcoming release of Ubuntu 19.04 comes up with an ingenious way around restyling third-party and branded icons. And as a result, Joey Sneddon say’s that in Ubuntu 19.04 the app grid looks a whole deal more cohesive.

Michael Larabel reports that its two weeks now since the initial Phoronix Test Suite 8.6 development release, the second milestone release is now available for your open-source, cross-platform benchmarking evaluation. There are few new abilities that the new Phoronix Test Suite 8.6 Milestone 1 brought to it and Phoronix Test Suite 8.6 Milestone 2 has some add-on commands. Some other exciting work should be landing for Phoronix Test Suite 8.6 in the days ahead; stay tuned for some juicy additions to PTS and OpenBenchmarking.org
