Web page

**This is Lizzeh (aka BinaryDigit here on the forums)...I just found out about the ubuntu-women mailing list and pages here! I had purchased the domain http://ubuntuwomen.org a few months ago and volunteered to create a site for Ubuntu-Women. RIght now it's just a simple Wordpress blog. I will gladly volunteer to use the domain I have already and change it from the blog to a this static/HTML site. I'd be glad to code it and keep using my webhosting is need be. I like the suggestions posted below! Please contact me through the mailing list or my email directly Lizzeh at gmail.com!

UW web page

Currently we have the wiki page as our Homepage so do we need a static (HTML) page. Things to add to the website can be :

  • Individual profiles of women involved here with short bio's about how they started with Ubuntu, and areas they are involved in now, etc...
  • Tutorial calender, to showcase any course/tutorial being conducted. (Eg. Clytie had offered to conduct a translation tutorial)
  • Links to documentation written by women.
  • Share country-specific conferences information to help us arrange to meet with other women in real life.
  • Suggestions welcome Smile :)

Bi-weekly development Newsletter

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ is where anyone with a Launchpad account creates, adds pages but the randomness and the lack of a structured/indexed way of finding information is perplexing at times. Most of the nice stuff is available when someone posts different going's at the various Mailing lists but its tedious to subscribe to each and sift through all the mail.

So how about a single mail on the 1st and 16th of each month to inform the users about the latest cool stuff being done by the upstream developers. Example: Manu Cornet had sent links to the -devel list with preview pictures of the latest logout dialog which 'may' be included in Dapper. Most Ubuntu users uninvolved in testing, etc.. will only see this after they upgrade to a stable distro.

We could have a wiki page but a bi-weekly thread with a complete list would keep us updated and wouldnt it be easier to voice opinions here or subscribe to the relevant list to reply there. What do you think ?
