Mr Bite for the Ubuntu Community Council 2026–2028

Hello Ubuntu community,

My namee is Bright Adams, and I’m an Ubuntu community leader and open-source advocate based in Nigeria.

Over the years, Ubuntu has become much more than an operating system to me. It has been a community through which I have learned, contributed, built relationships, organized events, and helped create opportunities for other people to participate in open source.

I currently serve as the Ubuntu Africa Loco Lead and have also served as the Ubuntu Uyo Community Lead, where I have worked to grow Ubuntu communities, organize events, bring new people into the ecosystem, and create spaces where people can learn and contribute regardless of where they are starting from.

A significant part of my contribution has been focused on making Ubuntu and open source more accessible in Africa. I have helped organize and support community activities, workshops, meetups, and broader technology initiatives, while working with volunteers and community members to turn ideas into actual activities.

Representing Ubuntu Africa has also taken me beyond Nigeria. I have had the opportunity to travel to other countries to attend events and represent the Ubuntu Africa community, engaging with contributors and communities from different backgrounds. These experiences have helped me understand the importance of building stronger connections between local communities and the wider global Ubuntu community.

What I would like to contribute

1. Make Ubuntu more accessible to new contributors

I want to help make the path from “I'm interested in Ubuntu” to “I'm contributing to Ubuntu” clearer.

2. Strengthen Ubuntu communities in Africa and beyond

Africa has a rapidly growing technology ecosystem and a large community of people interested in open source.

I would like to help strengthen the connection between Ubuntu's global community and local communities across Africa, while also making sure these communities have a voice in the wider Ubuntu ecosystem.

3. Support community leaders and volunteers

Community leadership can be rewarding, but it can also be exhausting.

Having worked as a community lead myself, I understand the amount of coordination, communication, and volunteer effort required to keep a community active.

I want to contribute to an Ubuntu culture where community leaders are supported, new leaders are developed, and responsibility does not continually fall on the same few people.

What I would bring to the Council

I would bring community experience, an African perspective, international community experience, technical understanding, communication skills, and a willingness to listen.

Ubuntu has given me opportunities to learn, lead, represent, and contribute.

I would be honoured to give back by helping shape the next chapter of its community.

Ubuntu is built by people. I want to help make sure more people feel that they belong, that their contributions matter, and that they have a path to leadership. Mrbite (talk) 11:31, 9 September 2026 (UTC)
