I'm William, and I have been using Linux for the past 4 years. The primary distribution I used before this year was Debian, until I discovered Ubuntu. I have been using Ubuntu since a few days after 5.04 was released, and have never looked back. I have been pro-OSS for the past few years, converting many people to Mozilla Firefox/Thunderbird, but have been reluctant to propose that everyone use Linux, as it was simply too difficult for many people, until Ubuntu came along, that is. The more people involved in Ubuntu, the better, so I am involved in AustraliaTeam, spreading Ubuntu throughout Australia! I know that Ubuntu has the potential, but we now need the marketing. == About Me ==

At the moment, I'm a Year 12 student in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. I've been using Linux since my father introduced me to Red Hat 7.0 in mid-2000. I then switched to Slackware for a while, then Debian, and finally Ubuntu (in January 2005). I've not left Ubuntu since.

== Ubuntu Involvement ==

I've been fairly active in the Ubuntu community since I joined it in early 2005. My contributions include:

 * Helping regularly with Ubuntu-related issues in #ubuntu.
 * Starting the Ubuntu AustralianTeam.
 * Managing the web hosting for the AustralianTeam.
 * Regular bug triage throughout Malone.
 * Updating/correcting/beautifying pages on the Ubuntu Wiki.

=== Helping in #ubuntu ===

Since slightly after the release of Ubuntu 5.10, I have been fairly regularly helping in the Ubuntu support IRC channel (#ubuntu). For the couple of weeks after Ubuntu 6.06 LTS was released, I helped for a number of hours each day. Unfortunately, I have since had to cease this, as sitting on #ubuntu uses insane amounts of bandwidth, and quickly exceeds my 1GB/month download quota.

=== Ubuntu AustralianTeam ===

Around the release of Ubuntu 5.10, YukiCuss and I started the AustralianTeam. It consists at the moment of about 60 Australian Ubuntu users who wish to help spread the word, and is still growing. I currently manage the web/email hosting for the team.

=== Bug Triage ===

I am subscribed to the ubuntu-bugs mailing list, and triage many bugs within minutes of the inital report. I also often work through the list of unconfirmed bugs, trying to eventually eliminate it.

=== Wiki Updating ===

I have corrected/updated/fixed/beautified many wiki pages, with grammatical/spelling corrections, cleanups, updating for Ubuntu 6.06, etc.

== Future Goals ==

For now, I'll continue bug triaging, promoting Ubuntu around Australia, and fixing up the wiki. In the future, I'd like to be more involved in the actual development (read: coding) of Ubuntu.
