Asus UL30A Users

  • oldarney: In ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10 you must remove the nvidia-current package to get unity 3d to work. Otherwise, you will get unity 2D. As mentioned before, there are still random temporary locks when using the trackpad and sleeping on battery.

  • Neehilo: Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) 64 bits, upgraded from 9.10 (Karmic Koala). Battery autonomy around 9 hours with Wi-Fi on and wireless mouse USB dongle.

  • nashjc: Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) 64 bits. Battery 9-10 hours with Wi-Fi on and wired USB mouse. Some "tapping" problems on tablet solved by using kernel http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.34-lucid/ (even though this is from lucid, it seems to work OK with karmic). Brightness controls (Fn+F6 up, Fn+F5 down) working. HDMI working, but note that System / Preferences / Sound / Hardware / Profile needs to be set to one of the digital (HDMI) settings. 2010-6-9: Upgraded to Lucid (10.04) and tablet still fine, plus webcam now right side up. And adding an Asus BT21 USB Bluetooth made my phone-cam pictures easily available.

  • Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit PAE (clean install): Touchpad too sensitive; wireless not entirely stable with default (2.6.32) kernel. Installing linux-image-2.6.36-1-generic-pae kernel (and associated headers) seems to fix Wifi and touchpad issues. Note: If you use Virtualbox-ose, you will likely need to install the lucid backports (3.2.8) version to get it to work because of the kernel module needs to be built against the new kernel. Webcam still upside-down without this workaround
