Introduction

• This page is intended to be the Ubuntu GNU/Linux Local Community LOCO Egyptian team page. This page is for the help to distribute and increasing the knowledge of GNU/Linux and the opensource software and how its turning to be a key player in the IT market for personal and professional use. This LOCO team is a place where every body is a very important player in the development of the GNU/Linux in Egypt and to expand the use of and assist the migration to opensource power. Our purpose as a team from now on is to market the abilities of ubuntu as a powerful operating system and helping people migrating from other operating systems. Conducting frequent trainings on how to use linux and stressing on the easiness of use of it along with making installation festivals on a 6 month cycle planned to be just after the official release of Ubuntu GNU/Linux.

How to join

• just join our [http://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-eg mailing list] (n/a yet) and add your self to the [:EgyptTeam/members: Members list] then request an add to the [https://launchpad.net/people/egyptlocoteam launchpad]. and here you go congratulations.

How to Contribute

• First of all by joining our mailing list and attend the meetings which will be conducted over irc and will be announced frequently over this page then try to fulfill what will be agreed upon during the meetings from strategy and events to maximize the benefit of the community.

Projects

• our most important task at the mean time it to introduce GNU/Linux, specially Ubuntu to the maximum number possible of people around us by distributing the Ubuntu master CDs which i know that it costs us a bit of taxes in Egypt but we shall afford it as it is very catchy to supply original CDs to a market like Egypt where it is impossible to find originals. so the first goal is enlarging the community.

Goals for year 2007

• Help the team grow in technical ability and size.

  Become an Approved LoCo team.

  Being mentioned in the media as Ubuntu and as a LOCO team.

  Be able to switch 100 persons at least by the end of this year to Ubuntu.

  Organize an installation fest.

  Start Linux trainings on a professional level.
