Reasons to love Lucid
Comes with Kernel 2.6.32 which should make Direct Rendering with ATI cards possible without requiring binary/third party garbage (hopefully) Lucid includes a simple video editor (PiTivi) which can be used to cut a video into pieces and other simple editing operations http://www.pitivi.org/
Reasons to love Karmic
Fn+Esc on my Inspiron 1525 issues S3 (Suspend to RAM) and it works flawlessly
