Python skills are an area in which I hope to develop further, so as to be able to read and understand patches to Ubuntu desktop.

Ubuntu One bugs in which I am taking a viewing interest in 2009/2010

My further reading

To bring all my Ubuntu One installations up to date:

My testing rig is an Inspiron 1525 running various Ubuntu and CentOS5.4

The Inspiron 1525 is also my travelling setup, and so I try and keep up with dongle setups in /etc/ppp/peers
I take an interest in UbuntuOne and manually initiated connections (dongle and/or tethering)

can be done by creating appropriate .desktop files to ~/.local/share/applications/ by using seds along the lines of s/Exec=nautilus/Exec=thunar/g The .desktop files you might create for full effect might be:

  • nautilus-folder-handler.desktop, nautilus-browser.desktop, nautilus-computer.desktop, nautilus-home.desktop, nautilus.desktop

Thunar and Network Shares

Reasons to love Lucid

Comes with Kernel 2.6.32 which should make Direct Rendering with ATI cards possible without requiring binary/third party garbage (hopefully) Lucid includes a simple video editor (PiTivi) which can be used to cut a video into pieces and other simple editing operations http://www.pitivi.org/

Reasons to love Karmic

Fn+Esc on my Inspiron 1525 issues S3 (Suspend to RAM) and it works flawlessly
