== Amd64 architecture only ==

Like some of the other flavours of Ubuntu, Ubuntu Studio have elected to only release on the amd64 (64 bit) architecture for this Cosmic release and from now on. This is due to 32 bit hardware becoming rarer, and to reduce the effort of our already stretched volunteer team (volunteers are always welcome; see the [[https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CosmicCuttlefish/ReleaseNotes/UbuntuStudio#Contact_Us|Contact Us]] section below if you would like to help out). Packages for 32 bit hardware (i386) are still produced, and it is possible to upgrade an existing 32 bit installation. But now might be a good time to start buying all that new fancy hardware and plan for an upgrade to a 64 bit computer.
