Getting Ubuntu Studio Disco Dingo (19.04)
Download a Disk Image
Instructions for burning the image to a DVD or USB flash drive can be found on the Burning ISO Howto.
Check MD5SUM for the downloaded ISO
It is recommended to check your image file so your installation goes smoothly. Compare your MD5 checksum with the correct ones found alongside the images.
Changes for this release (compared to Cosmic Cuttlefish)
Ubuntu Studio Installer (formerly Ubuntu Studio Metapackage Installer) has been updated and adapted to:
- Install metapackages or other items not installed (opted-out) during installation.
- Install Ubuntu Studio's configuration and/or metapackages on top of an existing Ubuntu (flavor) installation.
This means Ubuntu Studio's tools and configuration can be used on any official flavor of Ubuntu.
NOTE: Derivitives of Ubuntu (Linux Mint, Kali Linux, etc.) are not supported.
Audio
Ubuntu Studio Controls has been upgraded to Version 1.7. Many changes have been made for the Disco Release, and the following is a summary of some of those changes:
Ubuntu Studio Controls is now the preferred method for starting Jack. Please discontinue use of qjackctl for starting Jack. qjackctl can still be used for monitoring Jack if needed.
