need to edit /etc/hotplug/usb/libsane.usermap: add a line for this scanner with 04b8 and 0128 under 0xVVVV and 0xPPPP respectively. It then works. |

10.04 (tested on 64bit with iscan libltdl7 drivers), 9.10 (reportedly), 8.10 (untested but libltdl7 drives are listed for 8.10 so non-libltdl7 drivers probably work for at least 8.04 too) |
Requires iscan debs to be installed |

Under Ubuntu 6.06 just add "usb 0x4b8 0x818" (no quotes) right after the similar comented out line in /etc/sane.d/epson.conf - See PITA thread for more detail. Also works under Kubuntu 5.10 but I have to change the permissions on a file after every reboot. Search forums for cx3810 and read the PITA thread. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=121540 |

v6.06 (Dapper) |
You need to add the product ID and device ID to /etc/sane.d/epson.conf, ie set the usb line to "usb 0x04b8 0x0819". You can get the IDs with sane-find-scanner (install sane-utils). Then "sudo gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/45-libsane.rules": add your scanner in GROUP="scanner"; make sure your user-ID is in the group "scanner". Ignore the error-messages when closing the xsane. |
