Notes

  • Problems I have had is using the default fglrx driver in dapper. It will suspend/sleep but it will not hibernate. It will if I install the latest ati driver. But I thought that this was included in Dapper. Also the WiFi light does not work using the led=1 on the ipw2200 modulde. -- Blake14

    • Both suspend-to-disk and suspend-to-RAM work for me on Feisty final. -- Jfinkels, 2007-04-24
    • I THOUGHT I was able to fix the WiFi indicator light problem using directions from one of the comments under this bug (although this bug is not for the Dell Inspiron 9300) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi-support/+bug/26464. Added a file /etc/modprobe.d/ipw2200 with the contents "options ipw2200 led=1" (one way to do this is to issue the following command: touch /etc/modprobe.d/ipw2200 && echo options ipw2200 led=1 > /etc/modprobe.d/ipw2200). I then removed and reinstalled the ipw2200 driver (using the following command: sudo modprobe -r ipw2200 && sudo modprobe ipw2200). Now pressing <Fn>+<F2> will turn on both the Bluetooth indicator light and the WiFi indicator light (although the WiFi light has about a one second delay). HOWEVER, the light now remains on all the time and only turns off briefly when re-enabling wireless radio once it has been disabled, only to flash back on.

  • Main volume control doesn't affect headphone port. -- Blake14
    • The volume up, volume down, and mute buttons on the front bezel of the computer only affect the "Master" track. -- Jfinkels, 2007-04-24
