Main Inclusion Report for hal-cups-utils

Requirements

1. Availability: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/h/hal-cups-utils available for all supported architectures.

2. Rationale:'xubuntu printing improvements'

   • Automatic CUPS queue setup for printers detected by HAL. This is part of what fedora uses since FC6.

3. Security:

   • No security history
   • No binaries running as root or suid/sgid ?
   • No ports opened.

4. Quality assurance:

   • Works put of the box without configuration. Can use on eggcups in case the detected printer is not known to interactively configure it.
   • Not in Debian, actively maintained in Fedora.
   • No serious bugs upstream.
   • Does not deal with hardware except printers and only indirectly via HAL.

5. Standards compliance:

   • Standard CDBS packaging, files installed in standard paths.

6. Dependencies:

   • All deps in main, eggcups which is an optional dep is going to be proposed for main as well.
