Requirements

1. Availability: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/ps3-kboot; Available for powerpc only.

2. Rationale: Needed as a boot loader for Playstation3 systems.

3. Security:

   • No known reported problems.
   • Any binaries running as root or suid/sgid ? Any daemons ? No.
   • Network activity: None.
   • Any source code review performed ? The only unique package is the kboot script, and code was reviewed.

4. Quality assurance:

   • In what situations does the package not work out of the box without configuration ? If installed on a non-ps3 system. Should not fail in a way that breaks the system when installed on non-ps3 systems.
   • Does the package ask any debconf questions higher than priority 'medium' ? No.
   • No existing Debian package.
   • Hardware: Does this package deal with hardware and if so how exotic is it ? Specific to Playstation3 systems.

   • The general purpose and context of the package should be clear from the package's debian/control file. If it isn't then please explain.

   • What do upstream call this software ? Has it had different names in the past ? Upstream calls it kboot, but is is packaged specifically for ps3's. Package we use was stripped considerably from stock upstream to make use of GNU libc (instead of uclibc) and removed many parts of the tarball that were not needed by normal users.
