NGO Team: Areas with no connectivity
What
We want to help and support areas with no internet. This page will list TODO items and ideas be fore move actual solutions to the NGO/KnowledgeBase.
- Offline wikipedia?
http://schools-wikipedia.org/ (cuts back heavily on articles that are not appropriate for young readers)
- Project Gutenburg
- customised Live CDs
- offline mirror
- Ubuntu Add-on CD from already downloaded packages (Say from /var/cache/apt/archives)
We need to investigate D-STAR. This is a technology that can give you ~128Kbs via long range radio signals. Linux drivers exist.
