The centralized launch event was well put together thanks to the efforts of many team members. The event featured an install fest with a local repository, a Playstation 3 and Mediatomb setup served from a demo system, and several speakers. Several members of the LoCo leadership and other members starting laying the ground work for the 10.10 launch events.





The New York State Ubuntu LoCo is proud to announce the state wide ubuntu release event. This event will celebrate the release of ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx". Ubuntu 10.04 represents the first release of 2010 and is a Long Term Support edition (LTS).

    Everyone within a few hours of Waterloo is encouraged to print and post Lucid Lynx Release Party Flyers in their communities. Let's help more computer users become Ubuntu Users!


  • 10 am - 2 pm

    • Ubuntu Linux Install and Support. Members will be on hand to install or help with questions regarding their Ubuntu installation. There will be no new installs after 12pm to allow for any unforeseen issues to be resolved.

    2 pm - 4 pm

    • Why Ubuntu and LTS? Charles Profitt will explain why Ubuntu, 'Just Computes' and also cover what this Long Term Support (LTS) release means.

    • Successful Security Habits. Louis Ruppert will explain security and how to have a safe experience with Ubuntu.

    • Additional talks TBD

    4 pm - 6 pm

    • Members and users will have a chance to share their experiences and ask questions while pizza and pop is served. A small donation is requested for the food and drink.

    Special Note: If any decide to come in the night before, we might be able to arrange an activity for Friday night.
