If you're wondering which format you should use, I recommend MP4 for windows and mac (with quicktime) and OGG for linux and ubuntu.
If you need a bittorrent client, deluge and azureus are good choices for ubuntu. To install azureus, just do:
sudo aptitude install azureus
Or to get deluge in feisty, install this package (or this for AMD64). or for gutsy, just:
sudo aptitude install deluge-torrent
To get azureus on windows, go to their website.
