- Make: Toshiba
- Model: M2
- S/N: 75557087G
Hardware details
- Toshiba Tecra M2
- Pentium M 735 1.7GHz
- 512MB Memory
- 40GB HDD 4200 RPM
- DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
- 14" XGA TFT Screen
nVIDIA GeForce FX 64MB VRAM
- 56k Modem
- LAN
- WLAN (Intel PRO/Wireless 802.11 BG)
- Bluetooth
- SD Card reader
- Windows XP Professional
- UK Keyboard
Notes
- Has a killswitch at the front to toggle WLAN.
- SD Card reader only accepts SD cards (no MMC).
Current Issues (Hoary)
dmesg output informs me that I have to turn off the killswitch to run wireless but setup insists on having the killswitch turned on
- Does not associate with AP
- 1024x768 resolution is unstable; screen is fuzzy. Switching from another resolution works, but going back getting a clear 1024 seems to be a hit or miss issue.
Current Issues (Breezy)
- It is a struggle to run Breezy on this unit; I've burned and tested at least 5 Colony 3 CDs as well as the daily build (08222005) and I still get consistent failures on installing at Stage 2 (tty4 shows its trying to install some OOo and Mozilla packs)
IPW2200 won't associate with an AP during setup; can only associate after [http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14007 #14007] workaround.
Won't reboot after Stage 1 of installation, had to pull out battery [http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13882 #13882]
Won't reboot after doing sudo shutdown -r now, had to pull out battery [http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13882 #13882]
- Fan doesn't seem to work (uh-oh) - runs on Hoary though

Partly. Edited /etc/default/acpi-support and uncommented ACPI_SLEEP=true. Turning it back on freezes mouse pointer in GNOME |

|
Partly, and cannot return to original state unless resolution is changed |
Partly, switching to external display produces extremely distored display on X. Returning to original state cuts LCD screen; workaround is to switch to tty1 then switch back to tty7 to fix screen; tty1 to tty4 is works on external monitor |
