The Event

Software Freedom Day Singapore takes place on Saturday, 20 September, 2008 from 10 AM until 5 PM. The event will be held at Singapore Management University in the School of Information Systems building (follow this link for the campus map).

The day's activities will include:

  • Presentations FOSS experts will make presentations in two lecture halls on the 2nd floor. The presentations follow two tracks, a Business/Enterprise Track and a Technology/Consumer Track. Details about the presentations are available on the Presentations page.

  • Exhibits Fifteen booths will be set up in the Multipurpose Room on the 5th floor of the School of Information Systems building. These booths will be staffed by sponsors and FOSS experts to answer your questions and demonstrate FOSS applications and systems. More information is available on the Exhibits page.

  • Contests and Prizes Throughout the day we will be holding contests and awarding prizes. Show off your knowledge of FOSS and win cool stuff!

  • Installfest So you're ready to try some FOSS, but you're not sure where to start? Come to the Installfest booths at B10 and B11 in the Exhibit Hall. Whether you want to see what FOSS applications are available in Windows, or if you're ready to take the plunge and install a GNU/Linux system on your computer, we can get you started.

Team Participation

  • Team Ubuntu Singapore was provided with 2 booths.
  • First booth to showcase Ubuntu and its features such as games, applications, compiz effects and others.
  • Second booth was intended for Installfest
  • Freebies were given away ie:Hardy Heron CDs, Stickers, Brochures
