Ubuntu Online Summit Concludes

In preparation for Xenial Xerus, which will become the 16.04 Ubuntu LTS release next spring, an Ubuntu Online Summit was held from November 3 - 5, 2015. The event was highlighted with a keynote from Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth, a Q&A with Canonical CEO Jane Silber and a wrap up session with key take aways from the track leads.

Ubuntu Online Summit Intro and Mark Shuttleworth's Opening Keynote

David Planella introduces the opening session of the online summit in which Mark Shuttleworth presents his opening keynote. Mark talks about the next (LTS) release, convergence, "Things", snappy Ubuntu, the cloud environment and Juju. Mark also thanks the outgoing Community Council for they work they have done, explains the meaning of Xenial, and answers questions that are put to him on IRC.

Ask the CEO: Jane Silber's Q&A

David Planella introduces a Q&A session in which Jane Silber answers questions which are put to her on IRC. Jane talks about a wide range of subjects which include her thoughts on the Ubuntu phone, Unity 8, and her advice for young students who want to work with open-source software.

Scarlett Clark: Kubuntu: KDE 4.14.3 Bugfix release for Trusty is now available.

Scarlett Clark of Kubuntu announces that KDE 4.14.3 release for Trusty is ready in the Trusty PPA and invites people to join #kubuntu-devel with any problems. She concludes with a link to her Patreon account which helps pay for some of her development work on Kubuntu.

Dustin Kirkland: LXD in the Sky with Diamonds

Dustin Kirkland informs us that "LXD has been promoted to the Ubuntu Main archive, now commercially supported by Canonical." The package is available for Ubuntu 15.10 and has been backported on 16.04. According to Dustin Kirkland "every Ubuntu server [...] is now a full machine container hypervisor, capable of hosting hundreds of machine containers, right out of the box!"
