Yakkety Yak Beta 1 Released

Set Hallstrom and Simon Quigley, on behalf of the Ubuntu Release Team, announce the availability of Yakkety Yak Beta 1 for Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Studio. They note: “Pre-releases of the Yakkety Yak are *not* encouraged for anyone needing a stable system or anyone who is not comfortable running into occasional, even frequent breakage.”

Lubuntu Blog: We need your input on Lubuntu image sizes!

The Lubuntu team want lubuntu users input regarding ISO size. Poll link is provided, and closes 2016-Aug-26 at 19:00 UTC. The poll asks what architecture you use, how many machines and most importantly if you prefer CD/1gb/2gb/4gb/DVD/8gb size.

Jonathan Riddell announces a change to the Plasma 5.8 release. A request was made from openSUSE (whom are also supporters, contributors and patrons of KDE), the Plasma team agreed to move date forward, so it’s now first Tuesday in October.

Robert Ancell introduces us to snapd-glib, a new library that is intended to help Glib projects by making it easier to connect to the snaps daemon. With the code Robert provides, it is possible for snap users to easily make use of this new library.

Canonical Releases Massive Mir 0.24.0 Display Server Update for Ubuntu Linux OS
