Ubuntu Core 16 delivers foundation for secure IoT
On November 3, 2016, Canonical released Ubuntu Core 16 for IoT. Canonical has been working with Dell, IBM, Open Source Robotics Foundation, Intel, Linaro and others to ensure IoT devices have provided security and a stable platform for developers through the use of snaps and Ubuntu Core.

The Xubuntu team shares that they used the same status tracker as did other Ubuntu flavors up until 2015. This post introduces the new Xubuntu-specific status tracker with explanation of the main views: overview, work-items, burndown-chart, and timeline. The tracker is also integrated to Xubuntu wiki with links to team calendar, IRC channel, mailing list and new contributor documentation.

Marcos Costales: How to print a document created with uWriter

Mythbuntu: So Long and Thanks for All the Fish
Thomas Mashos informs us that Mythbuntu as a separate distribution will cease to exist after specific Mythbuntu packages have been pulled from the repositories unless someone steps up to take them over. He explains the reasons why this is happening, gives special thanks to and names those that have helped, and explains how both new and existing users will be affected. Thomas assures us that the MythTV packages in the official repositories and the Mythbuntu PPA will continue to be available and updated.

Paul White: My Ubuntu week - old hardware, a VPS and Ubuntu GNOME
Paul White recounts work he has focused on over the past week on several laptops he had running various flavors of Ubuntu. At the end of his testing journey, he concludes: “Old hardware seems to work fine with the right flavour of Ubuntu until you push it to its limits but it's nice to know that if one Ubuntu flavour doesn't work for you then you can always try another.”

System76 brings Ubuntu to $699 laptop with Kaby Lake chips
Agam Shah, writing for PCWorld, briefly reviews the Lemur laptop from System76 noting that it is more cost effective than Dell’s XPS13. He gives us a quick summary of the laptop’s specification, the differences between the low and high end models, and confirms that both Ubuntu 16.04 and 16.10 are available preloaded.
First International UbuCon Europe Ubuntu Conference Takes Place November 18-20
Marius Nestor of Softpedia reminds us that UbuCon Europe will take place between 18th and 20th November in Essen, Germany. He writes that the event will consist of “two days full of talks, workshops, demos, exhibitions and (hopefully) great food!” Marius also links to the website from where further information about the event and accommodation can be found.
Yippie Yak — New Ubuntu T-Shirt Is Now Available To Buy

Ubuntu Touch OTA-14 to Introduce New Task Manager with Wallpaper and App Icons
Marius Nestor, writing for Softpedia, takes a quick look at the upcoming update for Ubuntu Touch which will introduce a new task manager that supports wallpaper and app icons. He notes that the release, known as OTA-14, mainly focuses on fixing bugs and says that a Release Candidate image will shortly be available for testing.
