Marius Nestor reports on a Linux kernel security update for Ubuntu 19.10 and Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS releases. The vulnerability, discovered by Manfred Paul, allowed a local attacker to either expose sensitive information (kernel memory) or gain administrative privileges and run programs as root user. All instances of systems running Linux kernel 5.3 are affected and a mitigation is provided until the systems can be updated to the new versions available on the stable software repositories.
