Hirsute Hippo is now open for development

Matthias Klose reports that Hirsute Hippo is now open for development, with Python 3.9 now added. Matthias advises to test in a Hirsute chroot and not in a focal or groovy environment. Links are provided, including a link to the Hirsute release schedule.

Call for nominations for the Local Communities Council

José Antonio Rey remarks that the Local Communities (LoCo) Council has been vacant for awhile; he reminds us what the LoCo Council is, plus the requirements to sit on that board are provided. They are seeking nominations to re-populate the LoCo Council so details are provided for nominations

Ubuntu Touch OTA-14 Is Coming on November 4th with Better Support for Android 9 Devices

Marius Nestor tells us the UBports Foundation have announced a call for testing for the upcoming OTA-14 software update for Ubuntu Touch mobile devices. Ubuntu Touch OTA-14 is scheduled to be released on November 4, 2020 and should provide better support for Android 9 devices, especially the Volla Phone. Many of the improvements in this OTA are outlined, along with links for supported devices, or for more information, or for bug reporting.

Ubuntu 21.04 Is The "Hirsute Hippo", Releasing On 22 April

Michael Larabel writes that Ubuntu 21.04 development is getting underway as Hirsute Hippo. Michael notes it's the third HH release with the release scheduled for 22 April, beta on 1 April, and feature freeze on 25 February. Links are provided.
