Forum-Wiki delta

(as in a [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_delta river delta])

This section of the wiki is a testing area for forum-wiki coordination. See a description of what we want to achieve in general terms [http://udu.wiki.ubuntu.com/ForumsCommunityIntegration here]. In the future, this area will serve as a mixing facility to help bring forum and wiki content together. Content with lasting value should be migrated into more permanent parts of the wiki.

To forum users: The the purpose of this scrion of the wiki is to provide a place where it is easy for you to start contributing. As you become comfortable with the wiki system you should feel free to contribute to other sections of the wiki as well. If you can think of ways in which this facility can be improved, please leave your comments on the ["/talk"] page.

Wiki help for forum users

Loging in: Click Join at the top of the page to start an account so you can edit pages. If you are new to wikis you might want to start in the SandBox.

Starting a page: To start a new page, simply enter the page name on an existing page as a WikiWord or with the ["pagename"] syntax. When you save that page you can click on the new link to start your new page. Use a leading slash (["/pagename"]) to create a sub-page of the current one. Using sub-pages helps give more structure to the wiki.

Markup: There is information about basic markup like bold, italic and bullets at the bottom of the edit page and more extensive help at HelpOnEditing. It is also useful to look at the raw text of existing pages (click edit to view). Don't worry too much about the markup initially though, because it can be improved later, by yourself or somone else. That's what makes a wiki so cool Wink ;)

Talk pages: If you have a comment about a page, but don't want to edit it, you can leave your thoughs on the associated ["/talk"] page, denoted by /talk. (we will soon have a separate button for this)
