About Me

Background

An evangelist and supporter for free and open source software (FOSS) as well as the open standards. Actively involved in educating and promoting the usage of FOSS and the important of open standards to public, organizations, businesses and government. Also involve with few of the open source projects such as translation, etc.

I am one of the founders and a committee members of Kuching Open Source Community (http://www.kuchingosc.org/), where we are promoting and introducing open source software and Linux to public around Sarawak, mainly in Kuching, Malaysia. I am also members of various teams in the Launchpad (please refer to https://launchpad.net/~nbliang/+participation for my complete team list).

Plans & Goals

I will just start with smaller goals of what I can do:

  • To promote open source software (especially Ubuntu) to others
  • Promote Ubuntu as the first choice in desktop usage (to help fixing bug #1 in Launchpad)
  • Become an official Ubuntu Member
  • Help others that have problems / queries with Ubuntu

and from there will move to bigger goals as stated below:

  • Learn to be a MOTU as well
  • Be one of the official contact in Malaysia for Ubuntu Wink ;)

Activities In Near Future

  • UNIMAS IT EXPO 2008 (UNITE08) BR(29 Feb until 2 Mar 2008 - Universiti Malaysia Sarawak - Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia) BRWe will be at UNIMAS for a presentation on various Ubuntu-related topics with members of PERTEKMA and the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology for Ubuntu InstallFest.
