Who I Am
My name is Noah Wager, and I have been a member of the Ubuntu Kernel Team since August 2023. I help maintain a variety of Ubuntu kernels and related packages in accordance with our Stable Release Updates Cycle. I mainly contribute to Ubuntu Nvidia Tegra Linux Kernels. I graduated with a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle.
My Ubuntu Story
I was introduced to Linux at university, where my department had servers running Rocky and my robotics class used Ubuntu on the host and robot. Coming from MacOS, the UNIX compliance felt familiar, but the freedom was something I hadn't experienced. I found Ubuntu to hit a particularly sweet spot of user-friendliness and user privilege, where the OS was easy to use without compromising the ability to tinker.
From there, I used Ubuntu for school and personal projects, with a focus on embedded systems. I spent an increasing amount of time in shells, automating more and more tasks with Bash and Python scripts, and experimented with Nvidia's Jetson Nano outside of class. That platform was where I began to take a serious interest in Ubuntu under the hood, not just as a high-level user. You can imagine my excitement when I was presented the opportunity to work at Canonical on the Nvidia Tegra project!
My Involvement
As a member of the Kernel and Nvidia Tegra teams, I have worked with Tegra kernels and hardware to enable Ubuntu Core and other features, review patches, develop kernel packaging, and fix bugs. Additionally, I have prepared various other kernels as part of the SRU process.
