About Me

I'm Nathan Heafner, a 25 year old working in Apple customer support, currently Living in North Carolina, USA. I'm dedicated to privacy, anonymity, and pseudonym. I believe strongly in Free Speech and I'm committed to protecting those rights. I'm a somewhat of a nerd. I like to tinker with hardware and software, and I find serenity in using the Terminal. I value the art of debate and I'm very opinionated.

I started using Linux in 2004 when my Windows computer crashed and I wanted to try Linux because it was "Free". I started using PClinux then Debian and puppy Linux for a while. Like many users, I was introduced to linux by a discussion from an online forum. The fact that linux was free gave me the confidence to give it a try. I had nothing else to lose. After around 6 months of using Linux I made the full exchange in 2005. I'm interested in expanding the Linux user-base, assisting with testing, promoting ideas on brainstorm, and building Linux oriented skills that are relevant in the current workplace.

Freenode

  • #ubuntu-docs

Ubuntu Involvement

I have been spreading the word of Ubuntu to friends and family for the past two years and hope to expand on this. I have been a long time advocate and can account for many new users from my local community. I have been beta testing for the majority of this time. I have lately been heavily involved with Launchpad Answers and assisting with FAQ's and some Minor documentation improvements. I like to assist users on Launchpad and enjoy answering questions.

Future:

  • Get into iso testing and documentation
  • Applying for Ubuntu Membership. UPDATE. I am scheduled for an upcoming meeting!
  • Joining the documentation team, I feel like I can be a large asset with documentation.
