About Me
I am the Head Writer at Erie Looking Productions and present The Burning Circle, the podcast of the Ohio LoCo Team. The podcast now has over sixty episodes and has been active for over a calendar year. Outside the Ubuntu realm I have presented since December 2007 LISTen: An LISNews.org Podcast which deals with more general issues in the realm of library and information science.
I deal with preserving older technology in operational status lately and previously used a PowerPC running Lucid Lynx. I utilize a kirkwood-based SheevaPlug for back-end operations at home where tasks are either repetitive or are not necessarily interactive. As Ubuntu does not support the kirkwood variant of ARM I end up gaining proficiency with Debian using Squeeze on the SheevaPlug. My principal desktop computer is a BeagleBoard-xM that is running the armel release of Oneiric Ocelot.
Tiered service levels is how I describe my view of computing at home. My operations are split among my smartphone, the SheevaPlug, my netbook running Xubuntu, and the desktop that is based on the BeagleBoard. No one device alone covers all that I want to do. In keeping a presence in differing processor platforms I can help serve my community by providing a knowledge base of experience.
