The Wiki Focus Group is for UF BT members who want to help update and maintain the Community Wiki. For other UF BT Focus Groups, see BeginnersTeam/FocusGroups.

The Beginner's Team wiki area exists for us to stay organized, not to write Help documents or Howto's. This is because we do not want to duplicate work that is done on http://help.ubuntu.com or http://wiki.ubuntu.com. All Wiki FG members should be subscribed to the ubuntu-doc mailing list. You MUST have a launchpad account to be on this team since it is required to edit the wiki. All FG members, please subscribe to this wiki page.

Current Happenings
The Summer of Documentation is now complete, check out the page at BeginnersTeam/FocusGroups/Wiki/SoD2008.

We will continue to work on the wiki with the following goals:
 1. Work on remaining pages from !CategoryCleanup and !CategoryNeedsExpansion.
  1. Keep track of your work on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Beginners/Development.
 1. Help implement the new Tag functionality throughout the community docs, which will replace some of the !CategoryCategory usage. Please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WikiToDo/Tags.
  1. Specifically, we are removing pages from Cleanup and Expansion categories and applying the tags instead. Eventually the Deletion category will disappear, too, so please use Tags instead.

Meetings
Next meeting time: Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at GMT 23:59 (8 PM Eastern, 7 PM Central, 6 PM Mountain, 5 PM Pacific).

Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month in the team IRC channel - #ubuntuforums-beginners on irc.freenode.net

Editing the Wiki
First, you must have a Launchpad account and be logged in from http://help.ubuntu.com/community in order to edit the community wiki. The wiki can be a little frustrating to edit sometimes, but there are a number of pages to help you get the feel for it.

Note that an extra newline is required to start a new paragraph.

If you see a page that you like and want to know how something was done, you don't usually need to click Edit to see the source. Most of the time you can click the drop down box at the top of the page that says More Actions and choose Raw Text. Learning by imitation is very helpful.
