Authored works are released using a dual license strategy. This means there are many ways to contribute to the project - documenting, editing, proof reading, technical checks and reporting or fixing typos, grammar or spelling errors. Even suggestions or ideas are welcomed here. |

FAQ about the ubuntu documentation efforts can be found at the DocumentationTeamFAQ wiki page. | The Documentation Team takes care of official documentation for both the Desktop and Server editions of Ubuntu. It also contributes to the Community Help Wiki, with responsibility for each of these documentation sets devolving upon the sub-team which shares its name. Besides contributing text to the official documentation and the wiki via the Contributors team, each has its own administrative personnel: the Committers team for official docs and the Wiki Administrators team for the help wiki. See Documentation Team organization for more information on this hierarchy structure. |

If you are in a hurry, we suggest reading "ForTheHasty." This page is the project nuts and bolts in a nut shell. We highly recommend it to people with experience in Open Source documentation projects. |

For the not so hasty we recommend the scenic tour. The scenic tour is a list of links to pages arranged in an order that will guide you through various steps and provide you with information such as - where to find things, what you need, what needs doing, what's being done, what has been done, and how to do them. Each of these topics is linked to the next in sequential order. * DocteamGettingStarted - What we do and how to get involved. * DocteamLicense - The license used for the documentation produced by the team. * DocteamProjects - The documents we work on: a list of everything under development linked to document specifications, HTML previews and status informations. * DocteamWork - Programs and technologies. A descriptive list of the tools and technologies used in the project with links to relevant information. * DocteamServices - Collaborative community infrastructures. Information about the nature and purpose of the various networks services that facilitate our communications. == Special Help Wanted Here == We can't all be experts. From time-to-time we need special skills not current within our skill pool and would be happy to obtain extra help. If there is something listed here and you feel that you can help, we would be happy to hear from you. Help with the QuickGuide! A really easy, fun and useful source of things to do is the QuickGuide. One can have a look at it online, then pick tasks from its status report. To contribute new content without needing to mess with subversion or docbook, one can just post them to the ubuntu-doc list, or add/link their new parts at the end of QuickGuide and annonce them to the ubuntu-doc list, |
