ReneBrink: can someone change the link on the teampage page on the folding site. The URL is wrong. If you click on it you will be redirected to a wikipedia page.

I second ReneBrink's motion. who's in charge of the team that can change the URL? -- ["Nanotube"]

Update: team URL and logo now fixed up, after I managed to track down the team owner. (2007-03-26) --["Nanotube"]

Team Ubuntu

A competitive [http://folding.stanford.edu/ folding@home] team has formed to represent the Ubuntu community and promote Ubuntu while doing some good. To help out, just download and install the appropriate client, which then uses your spare CPU cycles to calculate answers to [http://folding.stanford.edu/science.html important science questions]! To join Team Ubuntu, simply enter 45104 when the setup dialog requests a team number.

Those wishing to get optimal performance from their folding box should review the [http://www.hackaday.com/2005/09/13/how-to-folding-home-competitively/ Hackaday blog] entry on competitive folding. Note that currently you get the best point return by running the 64bit SMP linux client, so if you have a multi-core 64-bit processor, use that one. Details on installing and running the folding@home client as a daemon can be found on the main FoldingAtHome page.

update: a member of the ubuntu community has written an automated installer and network deployment tool for installing folding @ home clients on Ubuntu (and other Linux variants). See [https://launchpad.net/folding folding] or the release announcements on [http://ubuntu-tutorials.com/category/folding/ ubuntu tutorials]

Note

Three other Ubuntu folding teams exist: ubuntu forum, ubuntu.is and ubuntu-fr. After ["nbcthreat"]'s initiative, these have been merged into one team, and are no longer active. There is only one active Ubuntu folding team, and that is Team Ubuntu, team #45104.

Team Artwork

There is some "official" team artwork that has been created by ubuntuforum users 'laredo7mm' and 'nanotube'. The files are attached to this page. You are encouraged to use the small 90x90 jpg as your avatar on [http://ubuntuforums.org Ubuntu forums], as a means to spread the word about folding@home and Team Ubuntu.

The font used in the image is the official UbuntuTitle font.

If you have questions

If you have questions about Folding@Home or Team Ubuntu, your first action should be to check out the FoldingAtHome page on this wiki. If that doesn't help, your point of contact may be [http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=102313 this thread] (for general discussion) or [http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=101817 this thread] (for installation questions) on the [http://ubuntuforums.org Ubuntu forums]. You may also try the official [http://forum.folding-community.org/forums.html Folding@Home forums].

Folding@Home rules only allow the original team creator to edit team attributes. Everything looks good as of now (2007-03-27), but if anything ever gets out of whack again (see comments section below for an example), we will need to get in touch with the team owner. So, for the record, the team owner is MattGalvin. Please do not bother him without dire need.
