Newly enthuastic Ubuntu user. Started with Ubuntu Hoary but did not find it satisfying. I tried Fedora, Mandrake/Mandriva, SuSe and more but became overly excited when I experienced Drapper. Now I love Linux and above all Ubuntu :)

I get a lot for free with Ubuntu beacuse a lot of people are voluntered contributors. So the least I can do is to give something back to this wonderful product, and make it even better and more widely used. Looking forward to help.

Have studied Aesthetics & Culture at the University of Aarhus for 2 years, and before that a year of Political Science. Currently I'm making a switch so I'm gonna study Multimedias in Aarhus, and intend to finalize my candidate degree there. I'm also a producer at larger theatre/culture projects each year, where I'm in charge of organization, coordination and creating and administrating the projects finances. At these projects I'm also in charge of the cultural divisions (as opposed to the artistics) and thus develop concepts together with the artistic leader. == My Ubuntu work ==

I used to contribute to the translation of OpenOffice. I've also been involved in the Mozilla projects, particular Firefox and Thunderbird where I've tested the nightly builds and also been active in the user support.  * I'm the founder and site administrator of the main Danish Ubuntu site and forum, which I created in 2006 and have been working with ever since (http://ubuntudanmark.dk/forum)
 * Besides creating the support forum I also support through various channels like IRC and other forums
 * Member of the Danish LoCo Team
 * I have created Danish artwork (posters, flyers) to be used at releases
 * I have created artwork to be used for advocacy in the form of banners, profile avatars and other stuff (http://ubuntudanmark.dk/?action=artwork)
 * I have previously been involved with Danish translations (part Ubuntu - mostly Open Office)
 * I have created the [http://ubuntudanmark.dk/forum/viewforum.php?f=30 Danish Marketing Group] (which is about to takeoff for real)
 * I created the Danish UWN translation team (which did not succeed, but is moving towards a monthly newsletter instead)(ask John og Nick Ali)

 * Also, I started using Ubuntu with Hoary, and participated in the Marketing Group at that time (which has its own forum, and did not use a mailing list. I participated in the beginnings of a community magazine (I have no idea if that is what later became Full Circle Magazine). Memories about my contributions these almost three years ago seems a litlle vague, so I won't be mentioning them here.

== My plans with Ubuntu in the near future ==

Currently I'm working on plans and roadmaps with other participants of the Danish local community on some new initatives. This is what I'm currently working on together with other people:

 * Kick-starting the Danish Marketing group
 * To start a kind of Danish Ubuntu ambassadorship - which, if succesful, could extend into a mentorship
 * A Danish equivalent to Ubuntu Open Week, all though with focus on teaching new active Ubuntueros about Ubuntu (in Danish) and how to become active within the different kind of teams. The sessions would include people from different kind of OSS projects (such as OOo and Gnome).
 * Making the Danish LoCo an entity which is capable of making different kind of relationships with other groups and organisations (the work on LoCo teams as a legal entity, which was recently discussed at Community Council)
 * A partnership with an humanitarian organisation to collect and prepare old computers with Ubuntu and to ship them to Africa where needed.
 * Making a monthly newsletter specifically targeting a Danish audience (we tried a weekly newsletter but that did not work well).

'''To sum up''', my primary focus and greatest challenge is to get the Danish LoCo team more organized and thus more efficient. This includes to continue the work on http://ubuntudanmark.dk/forum, which is the first and primary entrance for new Danish Ubuntu users.

== In the more distant future :-) ==

Denmark hosts Microsoft's largest development center outside of the US with its 900 employees, and though being one of the top five countries in the world when measuring use of technology, Denmark is also one of the European countries which uses Open Source software the less.

So beside building a strong Danish LoCo Team, I see it as neccessary at some point creating (or supporting somehow) the grounds for commercial development and support. We might not be able to create 900 paid Ubuntu related jobs in the next decade or two, but the goal is nevertheless to have as many people making a living working with Ubuntu (and other OSS projects) as possible.
