This is the Official wiki page of the Pakistan Local Community Team and is updated frequently to reflect the team's work. Ubuntu Pakistan provides free community support to users of all flavours of Ubuntu Linux as well as advocates the use of Ubuntu for adoption and widespread usage by individuals and organisations alike throughout Pakistan.

Members are free to organize Ubuntu Meet-ups for Ubuntu users in their regions around Pakistan as well as keeping in touch via our active mailing list. Don't forget to update the Facebook page about any events you are holding around Ubuntu or simply join the active discussions underway. Members can make their own groups, install festivals, conferences etc.

Who is this group for?

This group is for anyone in Pakistan who uses or is interested any flavour of Ubuntu, whether it's Ubuntu, Kubuntu or any other. Even if you want to learn about Ubuntu, this is the place to start. Simply said, the Ubuntu Pakistan Community is for Pakistani's of all technical abilities from I've-never-heard-of-linux all the way to I'm-an-Ubuntu-Guru.

How do I join?

  • There is no official process to join, just join our Ubuntu Pakistan Team Facebook Group at or

  • sign up to our Mailing List or

  • you can request to chat in our Internet Relay Chat (IRC) chatroom (#ubuntu-pk on
  • You can also add yourself to the list of current members in launchpad.

  • If you are interested in contributing to Ubuntu-Linux Development activities, you can do so through Translating Ubuntu into Urdu language and you can sign up at [ l10n Urdu Translation Mailing List] and

  • add yourself to the current members list at launchpad.

  • Half a million Pakistani citizens have received Free Ubuntu CDs and made aware about Ubuntu Linux.
  • 4800 Ubuntu Linux Users from 506 companies and organizations trained and certified free of charge.

Ubuntu Pakistan Team Volunteers actively organise face-to-face meetings so members of the team or those interested in being part of the team in their regions can meet and exchange their knowledge, ideas and thoughts on the team/future direction etc. Meetings are organized in offices, colleges, universities or exhibitions as deemed necessary by Ubuntu Pakistan Team volunteers and members.
