Print facilities TU Delft
The ICT facilities at TU Delft are currently supporting only Windows and MacOSX. Either printing works fine using Ubuntu systems. You needs network connection e.g. wireless. The process of configuring printing is discussed here.
Instructions
Ubuntu 12.04 and onwards
- Go to System Settings
Click on Printers
Click on Add
Select Network Printer
Select Windows Printer via SAMBA
- Choose printer according to your location from the following list:
- SRV659.tudelft.net/FollowMe-IO
- SRV660.tudelft.net/FollowMe-3ME
- SRV661.tudelft.net/FollowMe-BK
- SRV663.tudelft.net/FollowMe-CiTG
- SRV659.tudelft.net/FollowMe-EWI
- SRV660.tudelft.net/FollowMe-LR
- SRV661.tudelft.net/FollowMe-TBM
- SRV662.tudelft.net/FollowMe-TNW
- The Fellowship: SRV663.tudelft.net/FollowMe-UD
In the field SMB Printer, enter:
- DASTUD/[url from above]
- For example: DASTUD/SRV659.tudelft.net/FollowMe-EWI
Click on Set authentication details now
- Provide netid (without @tudelft.nl) and password
Download and extract the printer driver (.ppd file) for linux from this website
Select Provide PPD file
- Select the .ppd file you downloaded
- Select default options
- Give it a name etc.
Click Apply
- Printing should now work.
Legacy Instructions
The instruction are:
- Open your browser.
- Go to localhost:631
Click on Adding Printers and Classes
Click on Add Printer
- On the menu that pops up now, log-in with your Ubuntu user account (or root, if you know what your're talking about)
Select Windows Printer via SAMBA
- Choose printer according to your location from the following list:
- SRV659.tudelft.net/FollowMe-IO
- SRV660.tudelft.net/FollowMe-3ME
- SRV661.tudelft.net/FollowMe-BK
- SRV663.tudelft.net/FollowMe-CiTG
- SRV659.tudelft.net/FollowMe-EWI
- SRV660.tudelft.net/FollowMe-LR
- SRV661.tudelft.net/FollowMe-TBM
- SRV662.tudelft.net/FollowMe-TNW
- The Fellowship: SRV663.tudelft.net/FollowMe-UD
In the field Connection, enter:
- smb://[netid]:[netid passowrd]@DASTUD/[url from above]
- For example: smb://tvdpoop:secret123@DASTUD/SRV659.tudelft.net/FollowMe-EWI
Click on Continue
- Give it a name etc.
Download and extract the printer driver (.ppd file) for linux from this website
Select the .ppd file and click on Add Printer
- On the next screen, just click on save.
- Printing should now work.
Other printing manuals
In addition, a manual for webprint on Linux is at manual (this manual is not listed on the manuals page, but it works. It is handy if you don't want to use the GUI printer configuration but instead would rather like to do it via the web administration interface to CUPS, the Common Unix Printing System).
